Our contributions in the transportation industry have included various solutions to fuel delivery and fuel control systems. Many times, our 50+ years of production experience helped to bring clarity to issues of concern for our customers regarding material and design performance. Often, we are able to suggest alternate materials for machine-ability and to help resolve design issues.
Transportation
Over the past 20 years, Koro gears have continued to perform successfully in a major automotive industry provider’s retractable mirror system. Our gears create the motion and control used to retract the vehicle’s side mirrors into the body of the car and to return them to use position. This project started out as a prototype production run and included pre-production as well as production part approval process (PPAP) verifications. Koro has the capability to demonstrate process control through statistical process control (SPC) activities and to use measurement system analysis (MSA) to verify the repeatability and reproducibility of production and inspection gages. Satisfying customer approval processes with reliable data and information is important to us. All of the parts for the mirror system project require heat treat processing. Koro works closely with vendors to ensure that adequate testing for hardness and case depth are conducted for each lot and that proper materials are supplied. This is a high volume production job producing millions of retractable mirror system gears.
